Panel features families impacted by LA County Probation Custody, Juvenile Court Staff, & a former LA County Probation Official

LOS ANGELES - today, Wednesday April 16th at 630pm PT, join Southern California CeaseFire Committee and Everyday Heroes LA in for a panel discussion on L.A.’s struggle to protect, support and uplift the youth in Probation custody.

Billions in lawsuit payouts, federal consent decrees, numerous state and county investigations, and more than a million in taxpayer dollars are spent each year to lock up a single young person, with little or nothing to show for improving the conditions or accountability of Los Angeles County Probation’s treatment of youth at juvenile halls and camps.

In 2019, the community won a commitment from the Board of Supervisors to establish a Department of Youth Development and Diversion and to transfer all Probation custody and supervision of youth under 18 to the new department by 2025. 2025 is here and chaos, corruption and confusion, gladiator fights, fentanyl overdoses and deaths and the failure of Los Angeles County Probation. to meet basic mental and physical health, housing and educational standards all remain entrenched in the culture at juvenile facilities.

The panel discussion includes families impacted by LA County Probation Custody services in juvenile halls and camps, people currently working in the Juvenile Courts, and a former LA County Probation official.

The event will be at 8475 S. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, 90044. Bring your experiences, wisdom and solutions. See you there!
