National LWOP Leadership Council Seeks New Members

The National LWOP Leadership Council is a group of committed advocates and community leaders guiding and growing the movement to end the use of Life without Parole (LWOP). The Council’s 14 members are people who were sentenced to LWOP but later had the unexpected chance for release. Hailing from across the country, they bring to the Council a diversity of experience, perspectives, and skills.

The Council offers speaking, engagement, and advocacy opportunities with legislative bodies, policy makers, survivor/victim groups or individuals, and groups/individuals that oppose ending LWOP sentences. They also consult on advocacy/political campaigns, provide media interviews, materials, research, and messaging tools for social media campaigns.

The Council is seeking two new members to join their team. If you, or know someone who, were formerly sentenced to LWOP, have a passion to end the sentence, and can commit 10 hours a month, you are encouraged you to apply for this important, grassroots advocacy position.
