No Kids In Prison Art Exhibit in St. Paul Minnesota 9/29 to 10/8
New Title

In partnership with Legal Rights Center and End Youth Prisons Minnesota, the #NoKidsInPrison art exhibition is showing at the Black Youth Healing Arts Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. The interactive exhibition features almost 10 years worth of collaborations with youth directly impacted by incarceration nationwide. The exhibition opened on September 29th and runs through October 8th.
#NoKidsinPrison is a national campaign to end youth incarceration and invest in community-based supports, services and opportunities for youth. The website for the campaign site features interactive information on where youth are locked up in America, how much we spend on incarcerating youth and the racial and ethnic disparities in youth incarceration. The project uses art to model, imagine and advocate for alternatives to youth incarceration by lifting up the voices of youth most impacted by the criminal justice system through art and culture.
The number of young people in prisons continues to decline. The majority of Americans want kids out of cells. With a groundswell of calls to redirect money away from the carceral system and into communities, we have the opportunity to end youth incarceration in this generation.
The Black Youth Healing Arts Center is located at 643 Virginia Street, Saint Paul, MN 55103. You can also visit the #NoKidsinPrison website to learn more about the national campaign.
