National LWOP Leadership Council Seeks New Member

The National LWOP (Life Without Parole) Leadership Council is a group of committed advocates and community leaders guiding and growing the movement to end the use of Life without Parole. The Council’s 14 members are people who were sentenced to LWOP but later had the unexpected chance for release. Hailing from across the country, we bring to the Council a diversity of experience, perspectives, and skills.
Currently, the Leadership Council is accepting applications for a new member. If you were once sentenced to LWOP, have 10 hours a month to commit to the council, and have a passion for ending LWOP sentences, here's how you can learn more, and then apply.

The Council offers the following services:
Presentations/Discussions
- Speaking to groups of any type
- Testifying before legislative bodies
- Educating policymakers
- Meeting with survivor/victim groups or individuals
- Meeting with those who oppose ending LWOP
Consultations
- Advising campaigns
- Providing input on drafting legislation
Media
- Interviewees for journalists
- Film, audio, print contributions for campaigns
Tools and resources
- Graphics, video, and messages for social media
- Training for advocates
- Thoughtful, fair, and clear messaging and research

The mission of the National LWOP Leadership Council is to create a society that recognizes the human capacity for transformation, promotes true accountability, and creates opportunities for healing and making amends; a society in which no person is condemned to death by incarceration with a sentence of life without the possibility of parole.
